Why Should You Book A Family Session?
Life happens fast. Whether you’re a family with kids that won’t stop growing, a couple in love, the friends who you’ve chosen to be your family, grandparents and if you have the whole family in town, there are too many special moments in life to look back and think “I wish I could’ve captured that moment in time, when everyone was that age.”
When you book a family session with me, I’m capturing the everyday moments that happen in life, hopefully to be framed and put on display in your home, and in your loved one’s homes.
Moments like… interactions between children, the love between parents, family laughter, and those cute shoes that mom bought specifically for this shoot; I’ll get it all.
My family photo sessions happen in a few stages. First, we’ll jump on the phone or zoom, and collaborate together about the details like outfits, location, etc. I’ll explain what to expect during the shoot, so your family can be prepared. The actual Family Session is an hour long (give or take a few minutes), just enough time to keep things feeling natural. I’ll give a few posing directions, but for the most part, I want things to feel really normal and comfortable, so I can get the true personality of your family.
The goal of these Family Sessions is to create the story of your loved ones in photos, that will flow naturally into a wall gallery or a photo album, so you can treasure the photos for years to come.
My goal is that these photos don’t just stay on your phone or computer (hard drive). I want more for you and your photos. I want to create something for your family that you will see every day, which will bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart. Who doesn’t want that?

Where Do Family Sessions Happen?
Family sessions happen anywhere you want! I encourage you to get creative and think big picture about what location tells the story of your loved ones. That could be anywhere in Marin County or the greater bay area, and beyond. Such as your home, the beach, your favorite place to go as a family, a park that holds special significance, anywhere works! Be sure it feels like YOU!
How Do I Prepare?
In the spirit of keeping things comfortable and natural for your family, I want you to wear whatever feels good to you. Depending on the location you chose, I’m always available to offer stylistic ideas about colors and outfit choices. If you want professional guidance on what to wear, I partner with a stylist
If you want a little something extra, I have a team of hair and makeup people that offer their services before any of my shoots. This is a great choice for someone that wants a little extra pampering! I want you to love your photos.
What happens after?
We’ve photographed your family! You’ll book another hour session with me for your image reveal. At this time we will meet either at your home or my studio and you will see your beautiful images in a photo gallery set to music. I will have a magazine style book of proofs printed so you can see them off-line and printed. From here you will choose your favorites, and order the beautiful display pieces you want. I offer collections of products bundled, so you can save on price. I also offer a-la-carte in case you would like to purchase only one or two beautiful pieces. Collections also include high resolution digital files, or you can purchase them a-la-carte. All products will be delivered 3-4 weeks after you place your order, and digital files purchased will be delivered a few days after you place your order. MINI SESSIONS
If you need a quick family re-fresh. A Mini Session might be perfect for you! Amelia Plumb’s mini session is a series of family portraits that are posed and in a great pre-determined location, either in Marin or the East Bay, and I often offer dates in both sides of the bay. These mini sessions are between 15-30 minutes in length, which is just enough time to capture around 20 great portrait style images of your family. Spring Mini Sessions are $450 and include 10 of your favorite images.
Mini sessions happen 2 times per year, in the spring (mother’s day) and late fall (November).
