Why Small Weddings Will Always Have My Heart | Marin & San Francisco Wedding Photographer

Some weddings stay with you forever.

This beautiful backyard wedding was one of them.

The bride and groom had been together for years before they were married, which made the entire day feel relaxed, joyful, and deeply meaningful. It wasn't about putting on a production—it was about celebrating the life they had already built together with the people they love most.

What made this wedding even more special for me is that our story started years earlier.

I first photographed the bride for her business branding session, then again with her sweet puppy, and later during a couples session with the two of them. By the time their wedding day arrived, I already knew them well. Walking into their wedding felt less like photographing strangers and more like celebrating friends.

That kind of relationship is one of my favorite parts of this job.

Why I Love Small Weddings

When I first started my photography business over 17 years ago, weddings and families were the heart of my business. While my work has expanded to include branding, events, interiors, and editorial photography, weddings have always held a special place in my heart.

Being invited into one of the most meaningful days of someone's life is an incredible privilege.

I don't photograph dozens of weddings each year—in fact, I intentionally keep it to just a handful. That allows me to give every couple my full attention and create an experience that feels personal from beginning to end.

Whether it's an intimate backyard celebration, an elegant dinner party, or an elopement at San Francisco City Hall, I love documenting the genuine moments that can't be recreated: the nervous laughter before the ceremony, the hugs, the happy tears, and the quiet moments that often become the most treasured photographs years later.

Knowing these images will be part of a family's history long after the flowers have faded is something I'll never take for granted. I feel incredibly lucky to do this work.

Intimate Weddings, Backyard Weddings & Elopements

If you're planning a small wedding in Marin County, San Francisco, Sausalito, Mill Valley, Tiburon, or the surrounding Bay Area, I'd love to hear about it.

I've photographed intimate backyard weddings, celebrations at San Francisco City Hall, waterfront ceremonies, and elegant private gatherings throughout the Bay Area.

If your wedding is focused on the people you love most, beautiful moments, and photographs that will become family heirlooms, we're probably a great fit.

I'd be honored to tell your story.
